Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner made $82 million in 2017: Reports

Uncategorized

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, the daughter and son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, together earned at least $82 million in outside income in 2017 while they were serving as White House advisers, news reports have said.

In ethics filings released by the White House on Monday, Ivanka earned $3.9 million from her stakes in the Trump International Hotel, Washington. She also earned $2 million as severance payment for leaving Trump Organization — an obligation in order to avoid conflict of interest while serving in the White House.

Kushner earned around $5 million from a real estate company.

Ivanka and Kushner have removed themselves from the daily running of their sprawling businesses and divested from some of them, but trusts and various investments vehicles created by them carried out more than 80 business transactions, which earned them between $82 million and $222 million in 2017, according to an analysis of the filings by The New York Times, compared to between $89 million and $201 million in 2016.

A spokesman for Abbe Lowell, Kushner’s and Trump’s ethics counsel, said in a statement to The Washington Post that his clients have followed all ethics rules.

‘Since joining the administration, Mr Kushner and Ms Trump have complied with the rules and restrictions as set out by the Office of Government Ethics,’ he wrote. ‘As to the current filing which OGE also reviews, their net worth remains largely the same, with changes reflecting more the way the form requires disclosure than any substantial difference in assets or liabilities.’ By HT
