Bareilly (UP): A man claiming to be an Army jawan has been arrested for allegedly making extortion calls to four businessmen in two districts, police said today.
Rajvir, who claims to be a Rajput Regiment jawan, was arrested yesterday, SP (Crime) Jogendra Kumar said, adding his details will be sent to the Army for verification.
The accused called four businessmen in Bareilly and Pilibhit districts from different mobile numbers and was demanding Rs 10 lakh each from them.
After police received complaints, they used surveillance to nab the accused, who used to change his mobile and SIM frequently.
The accused in a resident of Kadarganj locality in Fatehganj East.
