New Delhi: The Ministry of Tourism is observing cleanliness related themes based fortnight (Swachhta Pakhwada) during the period from 16th to 30th September, 2016. During the period Ministry of Tourism is undertaking certain innovative activities, including cleaning of tourist sites like India Gate and around, Jantar Mantar, Nizamuddin Dargah, etc. holding in-house Essay competition, special cleaning inside the office premises and Run for Swachh Paryatan, etc.
Officials, staff and students from Ministry of Tourism’s institutions are undertaking symbolic cleaning of the tourist sites in the afternoon everyday during the Pakhwada as per the details given below:-

In addition to the above, the Ministry is organizing an inhouse Essay competition both in English and Hindi on 24th & 25th September, 2016 respectively on the subject of cleanliness. Furthermore as a routine exercise the Ministry undertook special cleaning inside the office premises as well as in the vicinity of the area around the office on 18th September, 2016. Weeding out of files as per the prescribed schedule was also undertaken during this cleanliness related Pakhwada on 17th September, 2016.
During the period of cleanliness related Pakhwada, the Ministry of Tourism is organizing Run for Swachh Paryatan for which officers/ officials from Ministry of Tourism as well as institutions of the Ministry would be actively participating. People’s participation is also expected in this exercise. The run would be organized from Transport Bhawan to India Gate. It would be flagged off on 27th September, 2016. In addition to this, distribution of certificates/appreciation letters to the deserving cleanest divisions of the Ministry of Tourism as well as Regional Offices and Domestic Office of the Ministry shall also be organized in order to foster the efforts of cleanliness through Pakhwada. The latter activities would also their own significance on account being organized on World Tourism Day i.e. 27th September, 2016 itself.
Swachhata Pakhwada being observed by Ministry of Tourism today focused on cleaning activities at Tourist Site of Jantar Mantar, New Delhi in the afternoon..It was participated upon by the officials of Ministry of Tourism alongwith students from Institute of Hotel Management, Pusa. Artists (Private Registered Troupes) from Song & Drama Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting presented awareness theme about cleanliness in “Nukkad Natak”format – for a duration of 40 minutes.The activity was well applauded by the spectators around Jantar Mantar.
