The Karnataka Congress on Sunday expelled Bengaluru District Youth Congress General Secretary Mohammed Haris Nalapad for six years for allegedly beating up a person in a restaurant in Bengaluru.
‘Mohammed Haris Nalapad, Gen Sec of B’luru city Youth Congress, has been expelled from Congress party for 6 years. Atrocities in any form is not tolerated in @INCKarnataka. Legal actions have been taken against those responsible. The victim will be served justice,’ KPCC chief G Parameshwara tweeted.
An FIR was registered on Saturday against Karnataka Congress MLA NA Haris’ son Mohammed Haris Nalapad and ten others for allegedly assaulting a man in Bengaluru’s UB City.
The incident happened when Nalapad, with his friends, walked into a pub in UB City around 10 pm. According to reports, the victim, identified as Vidwath was having dinner in the same pub with his friend. Nalapad and his friends reportedly told Vidwath, who had a plaster on one of his legs, to ‘sit properly’.
After a heated exchange, Nalapad and his friends allegedly attacked Vidwath and beat him up. The victim was rushed to the nearby Mallya Hospital for treatment, but the group reportedly followed him there and allegedly beat him up again. Nalapad and his friends allegedly also tried to attack the victim’s brother.
Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the offenders would be punished ‘regardless of who they are’.
