Lucknow: Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy today distributed job offer letters to 3500 youths at the Rozgar Mela organised under Skill India Mission here at the Colvin Taluqdars College grounds.
“In today’s world, only formal education is not enough to get jobs. That’s why, under the guidance of the prime minister, we have undertaken a massive programme to provide vocational training to lakhs of unemployed youth. The enthusiastic participation in the Rozgar Mela here and elsewhere is proof of the success of our efforts,” the minister said the large gathering at the venue.
Mr Rudy said anyone willing to take formal training in various vocational skills can benefit from the skilling programme which has several schemes specially aimed at making girls employable, such as beautification courses.
“More than lakh drivers are required immediately, but the interested persons will need to undertake some soft training before they can be employed by companies like Uber and Ola. The country’s accelerated economic growth will create many job opportunities, and our ministry is committed to provide necessary vocational training to unemployed youth so that theycan benefit from the growth and be able to look after their families,” the minister stressed.
This wasthe third Jobs fair of its kind, which is part of the Rozgar Mela, Uttar Pradesh 2016 series being held in different parts of the state under Skill India mission. The earlier two Melas were held at Varanasi and Kanpur.
The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)not only provides government certified training to youth but also arranges jobs through various industry and business forums such as CII, FICCI, PHD, and ASSOCHAM in both public sector as well as private sector companies.
Mr Bimal Kumar Sikdar, Director, Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, pointed out that among those who were given job offer letters were 6 differently- abled candidates. “We are grateful to CII and many public and private sector companies that participated in the Mela,” he said.
Besides local job applicants of Lucknow, a large number of them had also come from other cities such as Hardoi, Unnao, Gonda, Bahraich, Sitapur, Pratapgarh, etc.
