New Delhi: Through Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN), National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) and Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) has taken a number of steps to develop and promote Yoga & Naturopathy in the Country including in rural and tribal areas as follows:-
Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN), an autonomous body of the Ministry is providing grant-in-aid to Govt. Organizations/NGOs/ Voluntary Organizations for running Yoga & Naturopathy Clinics and Hospitals (OPD, IPD 10, 20, 30, 50 & 100 Beds).
The CCRYN has opened 08 Yoga and Naturopathy OPDs in Govt. Hospitals of Delhi and Haryana.
Under Training, Propagation and Promotional activities, the CCRYN:- (i) participates in Health Melas/ Exhibition organized by the Ministry and other organizations; (ii) conducts various Training Workshops/Seminars/Conferences on Yoga and Naturopathy; (iii) conducts one year Treatment Assistant cum Training Course (TATC) and one month Yoga Health Education Program . (iv) deputes Yoga Teachers for conducting Yoga Training Programs for Govt. Institutions/ RWAs, on request basis; (v) organized one day Yoga Diabetes Awareness Program on Gandhi Jayanti Day (02.10.2016) at 5 locations in each district of the country with financial assistance/grant-in-aid up to a maximum of Rs.20,000/- per location, on reimbursement basis.
National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), an autonomous body under the Ministry, conducts Health awareness program as part of Ayushman Bharat in rural, semi-rural and urban slums.
As part of these programs the targeted groups are given health awareness lectures, Yoga sessions and demos are provided with simple natural foods. IEC material is distributed in local languages, viz., Hindi/Marathi/Telugu/ Malayalam/ Tamil/Kannada, etc.,.
NIN has undertaken a program of Training of Trainers (TOT) programs with a view to impart the simple tools of Yoga and Naturopathy to the tail-enders of Health-care giving mechanisms, i.e., ASHA, Anganwadi Sevikas, Multipurpose Health Workers, Teachers, Nurses and Domestic workers etc.,. So far 8-10 such programs have been conducted in which they are given orientation on “self-health reliance techniques” through Yoga and Naturopathy so that they can incorporate some of these tools through their activities. As part of the program, a kit containing Naturopathy and Yoga equipments, booklets and posters are given to each participant.
As part of woman empowerment program, NIN undertakes training of rural women in association with self-help groups, NGOs or Panchayats and train and offer them Naturopathy and Yoga tools to utilize in their day-to-day life.
Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), an autonomous body under the Ministry, has conducted programs, as follows:- (a) Yoga Awareness Program through various approved centres all over the country. 100 centres were approved under phase-I and 59 centres under phase-II during 2011-16. (b) Various yoga education, training, health promotion and Yoga Therapy Program including Certificate Course in Yoga Science for special Interest Groups. (c) Certificate Course in Yoga Science for special Interest Groups from January 2015. Till date 652 Para Military Personnel have been trained as master trainers.
