New Delhi: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) celebrated a special Swachhta Diwas as part of the Swachhta Week (25th Sept – 2nd Oct) on 28th Sept 2016 as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. It was celebrated at a Pan-India level with 17 directorates covering all States and Union territories participating in this programme.
The NCC cadets have been a major part of the Swachh Bharat Mission initiative and have been carrying out these activities as part of Social responsibility and Community development. During the Swachhta Week celebrations, the NCC took upon itself to mobilize its cadets to carry out cleanliness drives in the school and colleges, cleaning of areas around historical monuments, cleanliness drive of various hospitals and cleaning of statues of national leaders.
The NCC cadets carried out a plethora of activities, ranging from beach cleaning in Malpe Udupi in Karnataka, to taking out a Swachhta rally in Meerut and Saharanpur. In Delhi, the cadets undergoing the Thal Sainik Camp, wherein cadets from all over the country are participating, carried out a cleanliness drive in Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi Cantonment. Similar activities were carried out in all parts of the country.
The NCC, as an organization, expressed its commitment to Swachh Bharat Mission, an initiative inspired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. The focus of the organisation is on spreading awareness to all corners of our country through its young and dynamic cadets, they said in an official statement.
