New Delhi: Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry and Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman, Railway Board along with senior Railway officials held a high level review meeting with all General Managers(GMs)/Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of Zonal Railways/Production Units through Video Conferencing in Rail Bhavan on 22.08.2019.
In the opening session of the review meeting, Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Minister of Commerce & Industry, congratulated the Divisional Railway Managers whose divisions have performed well on various Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Shri Goyal emphasised to GMs and DRMs to increase earning through more freight loading and Non Fare Revenue. Shri Goyal also stressed upon the zones and divisions to further improve punctuality of trains. The agenda of the meeting was safety performance, punctuality, capacity enhancement and other various ongoing developmental projects in Indian Railways.
While reviewing the performance of Zonal Railways during the current year so far, Chairman, Railway Board gave directions to General Managers for close monitoring of projects related to safety in train operations. Shri Yadav emphasized on elimination of Manned Level crossings and construction of Road over Bridge (RoBs)/Road Under Bridges (RuBs) at a swift pace in each zone. Shri Yadav expressed his satisfaction on the progress of elimination of Manned Level crossings (MLC) in first four months of this financial year as compared to corresponding period in previous year.
Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav directed General Managers to enhance their efforts to further improve punctuality. He emphasized to GMs to take initiatives to increase freight loading. Reviewing the infrastructure creation projects, Shri Yadav directed all the officers to ensure timely completion of ongoing infrastructure projects and meet the targets in stipulated deadlines. He stressed on advance planning of the projects before their implementation so the projects may be completed in a time bound manner. New Line Commissioning, Gauge conversion, Doubling, Electrification projects are to be expedited.
Chairman, Railway Board highlighted that all zones and divisions should complete the preparations with regard to 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi. Various initiative being taken in this direction include elimination of single use plastic, development of track side nurseries, plantation and cleanliness of stations and trains. Shri Yadav reiterated that sustained focus on safety, punctuality, infrastructure creation, cleanliness and hygiene of stations and trains and passengers comfort will remain the priority areas for Indian Railways.
