Dehradun: A meeting chaired by Urban Development, Housing, Rajiv Gandhi Urban Housing, Census, Re-organisation and Election Minister Mr. Madan Kaushik to discuss the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna’ was held at Vidhan Sabha office. In the wake of the fact that in 2016, under the Slum Dwellers Act, many people have not received ownership right, the Act would be reviewed. Apart from this, deliberations were also held on the construction of 30,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna. During the meeting, stress was laid on providing ownership right to the people, after studying the changes made by other states.
Under the housing schemes in last ten years, out of 6829 houses under the JNNURM and other schemes, 4320 houses have been completed, while rest are incomplete. In this regard, action would be taken for recovery and stopping the installments to the civic bodies of the concerned districts. It was decided to include these houses in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna.
During the meeting, it was said that Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna must be pursued in a mission mode. The stress should be laid on demand based solution instead of housing supply. For the purpose, a workshop should be organised at the district level for the builders and property dealers. Stress was laid on establishing a grievance redressal cell to implement the scheme in transparent manner.
In the meeting, Secretary Urban Development RK Sudhanshu, Additional Secretary/Director BS Manral, Additional Director Uday Singh Rana, Joint Director Dr. Abhishekh Tripathi were present.
