Dehradun: Chief Secretary Mr. Utpal Kumar Singh has issued instructions for taking special care of cleanliness, health and safety in the child, women protection centers. He said that by providing employable training to children and women living in such houses, they should be made self-reliant. The protection houses should have all kinds of basic amenities as well as library, sports and sources of entertainment. Police verification must be done of all the staff posted. A special Anganwadi center should also be run in all these houses. Chief Secretary was holding a review meeting with those managing and concerned officers of the child/women protection centres operated in the state at Secretariat on Friday.
Additional Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi said that for security in the protection houses, CCTV cameras have been installed and they should be monitored regularly. Details of all visitors to the institution should be registered in the Visitors Register. Only female employees in the institution of children, girls and women up to 10 years of age should be deployed. In addition, Child Society and Management Committee should also be constituted in institutions.
It was informed in the meeting that the state government is run Government Nari Niketan, District Shelter and Protection Centres. Apart from this, the Government of India conducts the Swadhar Greh and Ujjwala Greh. Institutions are also being managed by NGOs. It was told that a social audit of 42 institutions operating in the state was conducted by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Briefing about audit report was given in the meeting. There was no serious shortcoming in the audit except for certain facilities and arrangements. Instructions were made to remove those shortcomings as well.
