New Delhi: The Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has said the rollout of the Smart City projects will help New Delhi emerge as a world class city. Inaugurating a slew of Smart City projects undertaken by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) here today, Shri Rajnath Singh said the NDMC has set an example before other aspiring Smart Cities in the country to follow. He recalled that New Delhi was among the 20 cities included in January, 2016 in the First Phase of the Smart City Mission announced by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
The various projects inaugurated by Shri Rajnath Singh include Smart Poles, Solar Tree, Ideation Centre, 50 LED interactive screens, Ambedkar Vatika and two hi-tech nurseries, four mechanical road sweepers, two litter picking machines and ten auto tippers. He also launched MTNL’s hi-speed Broadband on Optical Fiber & Hi-Speed Wi-Fi in Connaught Place.
Union Minister of State for Communications (I/C) and Railways, Shri Manoj Sinha, Union MoS (I/C) Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Lt. Governor of Delhi, Shri Anil Baijal and Lok Sabha MP, Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi were present on the occasion.
