New Delhi: Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Shripad Yesso Naik flagged off an Expedition Team of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Hmi), Darjeeling to Mt. Elbrus, Russia, here today.
The expedition team of eight professional mountaineers, led by HMI Principal, GpCapt Jaikishan,plans to summit Mt. Elbrus, the highest peak in European Continent on August 15, 2019 and hoist India’s national flag atop the mountain to coincide with 73rd Independence Day.
With a view to showcase the importance of Yoga activities to the international community, the team will perform ‘Asanas’ atop Mt.Elbrus.
Raksha Rajya Mantri conveyed his best wishes to the expedition team for successful accomplishment of the planned summit.
Director (HMI) Shri Ramashray Sharma and other senior officials of the Ministry were present on the occasion.
