New Delhi: Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour & Employment, Government of India hand over the ‘offer of Appointment’ to 135 meritorious sportspersons recruited by ESIC under various sports in presence of Shri Vijay Goel, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India and Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for skill Development and Entrepreneurship, here today.Members of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi andShri Manoj Kumar Tiwari, were also present.
The Employee’s State Insurance Corporation is dedicated to serve the workforce of India with health and insurance for a secured future. As per directions of the Government of India, job opportunities are provided to meritorious sportspersons by way 5% reservation in recruitment in various group ‘C’ &’D’ posts. Such meritorious sportspersons bring a healthy work environment and also create a brand image of the organization by representing it, in various national and international tournaments. In line of this progressive initiative of Government of India, the ESI Corporation too has just finalized recruitment of 135 talented sportspersons of different games from all across India for group ‘C’& ‘D’ posts and thus, has extended its message of wellbeing through goodness of health. The recruitment of the meritorious sportspersons will not only secure their future, but will also ensure that they excel in their respective games and bring laurels to the country. These recruitments have been finalized as per the extant rules & regulations of DOPT and ESIC.
ESI Scheme in India:
The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation is a pioneer Social Security organization providing comprehensive social security benefits like reasonable Medical Care and a range of Cash Benefits in times of need such as employment injury, sickness, death etc. The ESI Act applies to premises/precincts where 10 or more persons are employed. The employees drawing wages up to Rs. 15,000/- a month are entitled to health insurance cover and other benefits, under the ESI Act. The act not applies to over 7.83 lakh factories and establishments across the country, benefiting about 2.13 crores family units of workers. As of now, the total beneficiary population of ESI Scheme stands over 8.28 crores. Ever since its inception in 1952, the ESI Corporation has, so far, set up 151 Hospitals, 1459/188 Dispensaries/ ISM Units, 813 Branch/Pay Offices and 62 Regional & Sub- Regional/ Divisional Offices.
