Spiritualism helped Hindus evade conversion during invasions, says RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief (Sarsanghchalak) Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said that it was the “determined spiritualism” of Hindus that enabled them to evade religious conversion during the long history of invasions in the country.

Bhagwat was in Vrindavan to inaugurate the ‘Mansi Dhyan Kendra’, a meditation centre, at preacher Kaushal Kishore Maharaj’s Nikunj Van ashram. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Baba Ramdev also addressed the gathering.

Addressing the gathering, the RSS chief said enough was being preached all around but the need of the hour was to implement what was being said.

“For this, we need to be determined to our core and aim high,” he said, adding that the newly-inaugurated meditation centre could help in achieving this mission. “Our ability to meditate should be strong. Unaffected by all external factors, we should be able to change the external atmosphere,” he said while explaining the practical benefits of ‘dhyan’.

Speaking about India’s long history of invasions, he said, “Hindus evaded conversion to Islam because of their spiritual strength. They could withstand the harsh treatment meted out to them during repeated invasions.”

Cautioning people against confusing sloganeering with patriotism, Bhagwat said, “The nation will not prosper by merely saying ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. One has to act. We should be able to tell the coming generations how we contributed in taking our country to greater heights, something that we expect to happen in the coming days.”

The RSS chief also came down heavily on communists. “Those propagating communism say they intend to make the poor rich and vice versa. But, they are often clueless about the means they should adopt for the welfare of the poor,” he said.

On the occasion, Bhagwat also honoured the people who helped establish ‘Mansi Dhyan Kendra’ on Parikrama Marg here. ‘Katha vachak’ Kaushal Kishore Maharaj was present on the occasion.
