Dehradun: State Education Minister Mr. Arvind Pandey on Monday reviewed the progress of the education department’s work in the secretariat. During the meeting, the School Education Minister on telephone procured the updated information from all the District Magistrates about distribution of books in the government schools, which were sent in the DIC and CIC godowns last year. He instructed the District Magistrates to suspend the employees/officials with immediate effect, who are responsible for not distributing all the books in time to the schools from the godowns of DIC and CIC.
School Education Minister gave strict instructions that e-tendering of the food in the Rajiv Gandhi Schools and other boarding schools being run from the government resources should be done on one date at the same time throughout the state. He instructed that at the time of admission in Rajiv Navodaya Schools, such students should be given priority, who have completed education for at least three years in government primary schools.
Taking serious note of the involvement of personnel of the Education Department in a pornographic post on social media against a teacher, Mr. Pandey ordered immediate departmental action against the person concerned, besides initiating police action as well. School Education Minister directed that teachers of the education department, who are providing service in remote areas or at one place for more than twenty years, should be transferred to elsewhere, as soon as possible. He instructed that implementation of the Akshaya Patra scheme (Centralized kitchen and food supply for schools) be accelerated.
He asked the officials to draft a proposal for having same uniform in all the government schools in the state. Along with it, Mr. Pandey issued orders wherein he instructed that on priority basis, water supply, availability of toilets, power supply, provision of education for the helpless children, who are nomad, orphans and beggar; quality of the building of the schools and the construction work as per the present day needs, proper utilization of the school land and taking initiative of installation of solar rooftop in the schools, should be ensured.
During the meeting, it was informed by the officials of the Education Department that after the implementation of the NCERT books, the number of students enrolling in government schools in the state has increased from 50000 to 85000. Education Minister said that an award selection committee should be constituted to honour the outstanding teachers by the state government. The committee will inspect at the grassroots level and select the teachers who are performing well. The State Government wants to accord due respect to the teachers, who work with the spirit of service and want to extend all possible support.
Education Minister said that a Sanskrit boarding school will be set up with support of Patanjali in Garhwal and Kumaon. A committee will be constituted under the chairmanship of Acharya Balkrishna seeking suggestions for improvement in the Government Sanskrit Schools.
