Success story: Awas Yojana brought smile on the faces of over 43 lakh people of UP

Lucknow: I was shelterless , homeless…now, I can’t believe my luck. Uttar Pradesh government provided me with a house and I reside in that house along with my 4 family members without any hassle, said Netrapal of Shahjahanpur who is one of those 43 lakh poor and homeless persons who got homes in the four and a half years of Yogi government through government housing schemes.

             “I am very grateful to the Yogi Government for providing me a house under Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana. The house came at the time when I had lost all hopes,” said Netrapal.

            Netrapal of village Gurra Bhamoli, development block Kot, is a farmer from Shahjahanpur. He did not have any habitable house and used to lead a  miserable life. Two years back, his kutcha house caught fire and he was rendered homeless. After approaching the authorities, he was informed of the housing scheme. In March 2020, he was allotted a house under the Mukhya Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin). Now, Netrapal and his family members are very pleased with their present house being built and leading a better life now.

            While marking the completion of 4.5 years of his government, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Sunday had said that while during the previous governments, those sitting at the helm of affairs were busy making their ‘own’ houses but his government delivered for the people and provided more than 42 lakh houses for the poor under PM Awas Yojana, the most among all the states in the country during this period. This could be made possible due to effective implementation of welfare schemes and the honest endeavour to provide benefits of the government welfare schemes to the poor and needy.

            The story of Nagina Devi, resident of village Delhana, post Kashipur, Varanasi is no different. Nagina, a daily labourer who works round the clock to earn her daily bread. Earlier, she was residing in a small hut with thatched roof. She did not have the monetary resource to own a proper home. This was until she received a house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana during the pandemic time. Now, Nagina Devi is happy that she is living in a pucca house. Safe and secure dwelling unit with basic amenities has increased the quality of life, self esteem and social status of Nagina.

             “I have developed a faith in the system now. Having a pucca house of my own— it can’t get any better than that. Thanks to the government,” said Nagina.

            Getting into the mode of implementation and execution, in his 4.5 year tenure, CM Yogi Adityanath has done a remarkable job of changing the picture of rural Uttar Pradesh. The efforts of the government have resulted in economic prosperity of the villages along with social upliftment of the villagers.

            Under the PMAY, around 42 lakh households have been built in Uttar Pradesh. While under CMAY(R), more than 1,08,495  houses have been constructed in the state.

A new saga of development in Vantangiya villages

            Since 2017, Yogi Adityanath has transformed the lives of the Vantangiya community after becoming the chief minister of UP. First of all, he got the status of ‘revenue village’ for the villages inhabiting Vantangiyas and then improved their standard of living by providing 4602 houses to the Vantangia community.

Housing facilities to Musahars

            Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has brought about a massive change in the lives of the people of Musahar community who were facing the brunt of hunger, malnutrition, malaise and neglect. The government provided 28295 housing facilities to the Musahar community.
