New Delhi: The Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh met Dr. Ahmad Badr Eddine Mohammad Abid Hassoun, Grand Mufti of the Syrian Republic here today.
The Home Minister welcomed the Grand Mufti and discussion was held on wide ranging issues including terrorism and security. Shri Rajnath Singh assured India’s support to eliminate terrorism in all fronts and recollected the long-standing friendship between India and Syria. He was confident that the bilateral relations would improve further by such visits and wished that peace and stability be restored in Syria, soon.
The Grand Mufti of Syria thanked the Home Minister and appreciated the secular credentials of the Country. The Grand Mufti was particularly pleased to note the significance of Unity in Diversity in India. He expressed confidence that India would extend support in the fight against terrorism.
The Home Minister praised the Grand Mufti on this gesture and thanked the delegation for their visit to India.
