The Haryana government allegedly summoned the teachers union in Yamunanagar to undertake priest training and carry out priest functions ahead of a mela in the temple.
The teachers were allegedly asked to take the position of priests in the temple and carry out religious functions such as performing pooja and distributing sweets.
Opposing the order issued by the government, teachers bunked the priest training session. The teachers who skipped the priest training sessions at Kapalmochan office on 29 October have been issued a show-cause notice by the government, reported Times Now.
Teacher, Yamuna NagarThe teachers union oppose this order. Being a priest is not a teacher’s job. There are so many illiterate children. The government needs to give this job to the people who are unemployed.
Jawahar Yadav, former OSD to Chief Minister Khattar, told ANI that the teachers are only being called in for prasad-distribution, not priest-training.
Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar, has denied the reports saying that the state government has not issued any orders. “This could be a directive of the local administration, not ours,” he said.
Senior leaders of the opposition party too, have publicly criticised this move of the Khattar government, saying that the BJP is placing religion over education, a fact which is sure to severely impact the academic growth of the students in concern.
