Uncategorized

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Friday got its first breakthrough in the misuse of sports quota in medical admissions scam. These ranks are again prioritised based on individual or group participation and senior, junior category.

While these certificates have to be authenticated and prioritised by the SATS for the applicant to secure a seat, in certain cases it was found that the officials violated the norms and that led to the scam. On May 19, the TS CMO received a complaint from Mr Bharathchandra Reddy and Ms Varshitha Raj, which was forwarded to the ACB for enquiry.

The complaint alleged that certain irregularities took place in the allotment of priorities by the SATS for admission into MBBS/ BDS course under sports quota for the academic year 2017-18.

While the enquiry was in progress, another complaint was received at the ACB on May 25, 2018, lodged by Mr Sathyanarayana, father of Bharathchandra Reddy, who alleged that G. Venkataramana accepted a bribe of `1 lakh for issuing a copy of the allotment of priority in August 2017.

A scrutiny committee was set up in 2015, of which Venkataramana was a part, was in violation of government norms. Also, the number of beneficiaries who have applied for admission under the sports in under investigation. The ACB is carrying out further enquiries, and the public is requested to come forward with evidence pertaining to the case. Source DC
