Training on medicinal plants concludes at CIMAP

Lucknow: A three days training programme on production of economically important medicinal and aromatic plants conded  at CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP) . The programme was sponsored by the  Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) .In this training programme about 132 participants from 18 states including  Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, etc. participated.

            In the technical session of the training programme, Emeritus Scientist Dr. RK Lal told about Aloe vera and Kalmegh production technology to the participants. Er. Sudeep Tandon shared the techniques to the participants for maintaining the quality of the essential oils and its storage. Er. Tandon also demonstrated distillation processes for the essential oils. Dr. Sanjay Kumar told about production technology of the Artemisia annua and marketing of medicinal and aromatic plants to the participants.

            In this session, Shri Anjani Kumar, Deputy General Manager, SIDBI shared the knowledge about the funding from banks for setting up of the production and processing units to the training participants. Shri Arup Kumar, General Manager, SIDBI chaired the concluding session and distributed the certificates to the participants. Dr. AK Singh, ex-scientist told that medicinal and aromatic crops can help  in raising the income of farmers besides utilising the waste lands in different parts of country.

            In the concluding session of the training programme, various faculty members including Dr. VKS Tomar, Consultant, CIMAP, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. HP Singh, Dr. Ram Suresh, Dr. Abha Meena, ex scientists Dr. RP Bansal and Dr. AK Singh were present. Dr. Ramesh Kumar Srivastava, Sr. Scientist coordinated the programme.
