Trichy appoints India’s first transgender private security in Tamil Nadu

In a first in Tamil Nadu, at Thilai Nagar in Trichy, the Tiger Protective Service has appointed a transgender woman as security personnel.

S Madhavi, a transgender, was given her appointment order by Trichy Deputy Commissioner (Law and Order) NS Nisha.

Tiger Protective Service is a private organisation. Its Managing Director U Madhanagopal is supporting and encouraging the hiring of transgender.

In April 2017, Prithika Yashini a transgender from Tamil Nadu was the first person to be taken into the police force.

The Transgender Persons Protection of Rights Bill which was passed in April 2016 by the Supreme Court has recognised transgender as the third gender.
