The Railways has decided to offer the unused berths on trains under women’s quota to women passengers on the waiting list first, and then to senior citizens.
In a circular dated February 15, the Railway Board has written to all the commercial managers to divert the unutilised quota to wait-listed women passengers and thereafter to senior citizens.
Currently, the quota remains open for booking till the time of preparation of the reservation chart and after that, the unutilised quota is released to wait-listed passengers, irrespective of their gender. (DH)
