The crowded Indian SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) market is going to welcome its new member – Renault Captur, soon. However, there lies a tough road ahead for the upcoming Captur, which is going to be launched on 6 November.
Renault Captur will not only face direct competition from its rivals, but will also have to struggle with existing products of Renault brand. Moreover, Captur will have to prove itself in an already packed SUV space.
1. Direct Competition
Renault Captur is going to compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass, Tata Hexa, Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The segment teems with vehicles that have already created a strong base among SUV lovers.
While Creta and Vitara Brezza was among top five selling utility vehicles for the month of September 2017, Jeep Compass and Tata Hexa also continue to attract consumers.

2. Indirect Competition
The popularity of French automaker Renault in India cannot be ignored here. However, that fame is largely attributed to the success of Kwid and Duster.
Talking about the premium SUV segment, Captur is going to be at par with Duster. Both the SUVs, are based on the globally successful B0 platform.

While the prices of Duster start from Rs 842,500, it extends up to Rs 13,66,100. So, the question here arises why someone would buy Rs 11 lakh Renault car, when another product from the same brand with almost equal specifications can be purchased at a price of Rs 8 lakh?
3. What New Renault Captur Is Going To Provide?
To have significant gains from Captur launch, it is important for Renault to introduce something new in the product. Prior to launch, the vehicle has received mixed media reviews. While some name it as a “decked up Duster”, others place it at an altogether different design platform than its sister rival.
Moreover, there is nothing left in the SUV segment which needs to be explored by new entrants as almost every design element and new technology have already been experimented by the established players.
Before the final verdict is announced, it is appropriate to wait till the launch happens and see what are the reactions of the consumers from this new product.
