Superstar Rajinikanth today said that mere stardom, fame and money were not enough to succeed in politics. He added that it was something else that is needed to succeed in politics.
Rajinikanth was speaking at the Sivaji Ganeshan Memorial event in Chennai. The event was attended by actor Kamal Haasan and Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu O Panneerselvam.
Rajinikanth said, “It takes little more than stardom to be a successful politician. I really don’t know the secret, but I think Kamal Haasan knows it. Maybe he would have told me that two months back. Now, he is asking to join hands.”
Tamil Nadu has been going through a political turmoil since the demise of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
People and politicians of the states have been on tenterhooks for past 10 months with new claimants from the cine world having shown interest in entering the political circle.
Rajinikanth has been creating a buzz in the political corridors with speculations around his decision to join politics, while Kamal Hassan is another potential future politician of Tamil Nadu.
Rajinikanth’s latest remark has come at a time when speculations are rife about Kamal Haasan’s plunge into politics.
Hasaan had earlier met several political leaders including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Haasan has said that he will enter politics at the opportune moment .
It has been a norm in Tamil Nadu that superstars take a detour and enter politics. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have only sent the rumour mill working overtime till they announce a formal and final decision about their political ambitions.
To mark the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will inaugurate a monument dedicated to the legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan.
