New Delhi: Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Minister for Information & Broadcasting today visited the Media Units and their facilities at Soochna Bhawan to get a first-hand experience of their functioning. Commenting on the recently opened New Book Gallery by Publications Division, Shri Naidu urged the people to visit the gallery and make use of the rich collection of books brought out by Publications Division. He added that youngsters should make use of the Digital Online Library which contains selected archival books that can be accessed in the Book Gallery free of cost. In the age of instant communication, it was important to nurture the habit of reading amongst all age groups. This initiative by the Publications Division was an important step in this direction. The Minister was accompanied by Minister of State for I&B, Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore, Secretary I&B, Shri Ajay Mittal and senior officers of Ministry of I&B.
A modern and attractive Book Gallery has been set up in Soochna Bhawan which has become operational since January, 2017. A separate section has also been created for children books to encourage children to read the interesting titles. There is a reading room in the Gallery where the visitors can sit and go through the books displayed in a relaxed environment before purchasing the book.
Shri Naidu also visited the DAVP Studio housed in Soochna Bhawan where he was apprised of the modalities undertaken to design creatives and other communication products by the organization. The Minister was briefed specifically on the software utilised for designing creatives for various clientele by DAVP. He evinced keen interest in colour calibration techniques and also issues related to media planning and online release of advertisements.
Earlier Shri Naidu visited Electronics Media Monitoring Centre of the Ministry of I&B and interacted with the staff to understand their nature of work and reviewed the infrastructure related to the broadcasting sector. The Minister was apprised of the nature of work conducted by the media unit.
The Minister also visited the Social Media Cell of the Ministry of I&B and reviewed the processes of social media platforms.
