Dehradun: To give its students a feel of working of a democracy Himgiri Zee University today conducted its first Youth Parliament. The occasion was graced by the guest of honour Mr Deepak Uppadhayay, Senior Media personality.
In keeping up the academic traditions of the institution the programme started with the welcome of the guests that included the Vice Chancellor Dr Ravindra Bharadwaj, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Rakesh Ranjan , the Registrar Dr Viplaw Pandey and CFO Mr Anterdeep along with the senior members of the University
More than twenty students from different disciplines of the University participated in the youth Parliament. They picked up sensitive issues that are also big questions in India today. These included topics such as Women freedom, safety and protection in India, promotion of child welfare scheme and how demonetization has brought or not brought change in India. The students in opposition alos questioned the defence spending of Indian government.
The programme was made successful by the efforts of Mr. Praveen Rathi, Mr. Amit Kumar, Mr jaya Negi Verma, Mr Pushpendra Verma, Mr Alok Dhoundhiyal and other.
